Make Work Go Faster

by Caleb Wojcik · 2 comments

Everyone that hates their job wants to “make work go faster”. I know, because I was there.

In today’s short video I talk about the absolute best way to make your work day go by faster.

No spoilers from me on this one; you’ll have to watch the video below in all of its HD glory to find out the trick. :)

(If you can’t see the video above, click here to watch it.)

What do you think?

Is this the best way to make work go by faster? What has been your experience with doing work that you love?

Let me know in the comments below this post.

Caleb:

I’ve been reading all those posts about whether or not you need passion in your work, too.

After living it out for 20-some years, I think you do need some passion - but not necessarily in the very specific way it seems to be talked about at times.

As your video said, no one is going to pay you for playing Halo. But people make a living selling and reviewing video games, right?

Taking it one step further…maybe playing Halo isn’t the only passion within that passion. Maybe it’s electronics, or graphic design, or programming.

The bottom line is that instead of sitting and waiting for that specific “passion” job to come along - we need to be proactive and explore our passions. We need to find ways to bring them into whatever work we do.

Enjoyed the clip! Thanks.

Hey Caleb,

Great video! Ahh… the old passion + business debate…

Here’s my take. The hedgehog concept is good (in general) ie merge passion + market + skills.

But I also believe that going forward, it’s good to be a generalist hedgehog and a specialist in something like Chris Zook discusses in Beyond the Core. This is a “T” shaped strategy.

What I mean is this…

Try very hard to combine your passion, skills, and market potential, but absolutely make sure you are the best in the world at one thing; no matter how small/niche/unique.
